Smart fabric interfaces on show at 3GSM

For the consumer market, Eleksen is presenting a range of ready-to-integrate solutions and wearable touchpad designs which integrate into apparel and soft-goods accessories like bags, briefcases and backpacks.

Those on display will include: a five-button Bluetooth mobile phone and iPod remote; five-button ElekTex touchpads and controllers for iPod, SonyEricsson Walkman phones and volume controllers for any audio device; and an advanced iPod control with embedded LEDs.

The Soft Electric by Grace Kim

The Soft Electric is an exploration in wearable fashion technology, designed by Grace Kim for her final thesis project at NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program. Grace knit and felted the caplet by hand and embroidered the piece with conductive thread. The thread carries electric current to LEDs that are beaded into the embroidery. The LED beads flicker, acting like a sequin in the light.

Jacket Jacketson

Jacket Jacketson is, originally a wearable musical instrument conceived to be a portable toy for kids.
plastic buttons make sound, a mic and speakers for the kid to discover. It has an interior and desattachable jacket with the cables and stuff to be not removed. The outside jacket is completely washable.
